Monitoring embankments during construction often is not without its challenges. Monitum was contacted to recommend an intelligent real-time alerting system during the construction phase of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing using GNSS technology.
Deployed in a little under 10 days, Monitum designed and installed 6 GNSS monitoring stations to the potentially unstable embankment using a combination of positioning IoT technology. GNSS technology was ideal for this application due to the unknown stability of surrounding areas of the site during the monitoring period.
Monitium’s geodetic research then developed an innovative way to filter the GNSS observations and processing to deliver sub 5mm precision of the 6 ground stations in near real time. This data was provided to an online platform and included warning notification at the request of our client at specified intervals. The solution was highly effective and efficient and delivered our client the risk management they required during this crucial phase of construction.
